The Great Plan

Welcome to the Pronto-German Roach Expert Ardent Treatment (GREAT) plan!

As many people realize, German Roaches can be very difficult to kick out of your home once they have established themselves. They like to snack on your food, damage wallpaper and books, and spread germs to you and your family. Cockroaches breed incredibly quickly. They have a prolific reproduction rate and high adaptability. The German roach can start producing offspring of it's own in as little as 90 days after birth. The typical egg sac on the roach carries about 30 eggs. If you consider that 50% of the eggs produce females and assuming no mortality, in 90 days those females produce another 225 females. Then that cycle will repeat itself in another 90 days. The bottom line is that in 6 months the numbers of roaches can be staggering.

The first step to our GREAT plan is to inspect your home to determine if you have German roaches. Your input is important for the consultant to make this determination. The things that we need to look for are droppings, egg sacs, and tiny brown slime stains or pellets.

The second step is to try and determine where they are coming from. If you are seeing the roaches try following them and identify where they are coming from. Major breeding and nesting areas are hot spots and need to be identified so they can be properly treated.

Some things that should be done to eliminate and prevent German roach infestations are as follows:

  1. Keep the kitchen clean - Make sure crumbs and spills are cleaned quickly. Clean stove top areas and the exhaust fan unit above the stove of all grease. Roaches love grease.
  2. Keep food put away - Don't leave food out for extended periods of time. Make sure all food is stored in sealed containers. Don't leave dirty dishes out overnight.
  3. Eliminate cardboard and paper in all rooms that harbor German roaches - German roaches love paper and will breed in paper sources. It is better to store items in plastic totes than inside cardboard boxes where roaches will hide and breed.
  4. Empty trash regularly - It is best to keep your trash containers away from the building.
  5. Repair any leaking faucets or pipes - Roaches love water and will gravitate to places that provide a water source.
  6. Seal cracks and crevices - German roaches love the feeling of something on their back and stomach so they hide and breed in cracks and crevices. You may use caulking or silicone. This takes time, but the payoff is great, because you eliminate most of their favorite hiding/breeding places. You may need a lot of caulking, so use the big tubes with a caulking gun. Fill every crack inside every cabinet; fill the cracks on both sides of floor, door, and window moldings; fill all openings around pipes in bathrooms and kitchens. This makes a remarkable difference.

German roach infestations cannot be eliminated with just one treatment. We are committed to providing the best management possible for our customers. Our treatment process, which can be explained by your Pronto consultant, will include multiple treatments along with the suggested techniques listed in the bullets above.

The Pronto GREAT plan includes nine treatments over a year. We begin with six monthly treatments and then treat bi-monthly over the next six months. Before we begin treatment we ask that you remove dishes, food, and cooking tools from all cabinets, closet areas, and storage areas that you have observed activity. German roaches love to breed in the bottom of refrigerators where the condenser provides steady heat and moisture. This area needs to be treated as well. We ask that you be prepared to move the refrigerator from the wall during treatment. Our technicians are not allowed to move appliances.
